The Indian Coast Guard selection process is divided into four stages - Stage I - Computer Based Exam & objective type paper, Stage II - Physical Test/ Skill Test, Stage III - Medical Examination and Stage IV - Document/ Certificate Verification of the candidate to submit proof of all required records which candidates were asked to submit during the time of application.

The minimum educational qualification for the Indian Coast for the post of Navik (General Duty) is 10+2 passed with Maths and Physics, for the post of Navik (Domestic Branch) is, 10th Class passed, and for the post of Yantrik is, 10th class, passed, Diploma in Electrical/ Mechanical / Electronics/ Telecommunication (Radio/Power) Engineering of duration 03 or 04 years approved by All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) or 10th& 12th class passed from an education board recognized by Council of Boards for School Education (COBSE) and Diploma in Electrical/ Mechanical / Electronics/ Telecommunication (Radio/Power) Engineering of duration 02 or 03 years approved by All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE).

Yes, once the recruitment is done, candidates will be called for basic training at INS Chilka which will be followed by sea training and professional training. Branch/ trade will be allocated to them as per the requirement of performance and service during their period of training. If the particular candidate’s performance is to be found unsatisfactory, they will be discharged from the training.
