What is the GATE ME exam?

GATE ME stands for Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering - Mechanical Engineering, it is one of the 30 subjects of the GATE 2024 examination. A candidate from a Mechanical Engineering background can appear for GATE ME 2024. This year, IISc Bangalore is conducting the GATE Exam in a Computer-Based format.

What will be the exam pattern for GATE ME 2024?

The GATE 2024 exam is online. It is a computer-based test (CBT). the exam is expected to have a total of 65 questions. The question paper of 3 hours will have a total of 100 marks. Out of the 65 questions, 55 Questions are technical (25 questions of one mark + 30 questions of 2 marks each) and 10 Questions are technical (5 questions of one mark + 5 questions of 2 marks each). The General Aptitude section includes 5 questions carrying 1-mark each (sub-total 5 marks) and 5 questions carrying 2-marks each (sub-total 10 marks).

Candidates having a valid GATE Score are entitled to a monthly stipend and other benefits during the 2 year program and after completion of MTech, ample of lucrative jobs await you. You have opportunities in Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) as well through GATE. Several PSUs including BARC, DDA, HPCL, IOCL, NPCIL, etc. recruit candidates with good GATE Score. A good score in GATE 2024 also opens up Research, Sponsorship Opportunities, etc for you.

Can a person with a backlog take GATE 2024?

Candidates who have backlogs (arrears/ failed subjects) in any paper of the qualifying degree or have appeared in the final year/ semester examination in 2023 should do the following either: Submit a copy of any one of the marks sheets of the final year or Have to obtain a declaration from their Principal along with the signature and seal beforehand and upload the same during the online submission of the application form.

What is the distribution of marks in GATE ME 2024?

The Division of Marks will be- General Aptitude for 15% of total marks, Engineering Mathematics for 15% of total marks, and Paper or Discipline opted for by a candidate for 70% of total marks. The questions paper will have a mix of Numerical Answer Test (NAT), Multiple Select (MSQ), and Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ).
